👀 Job Summary:

As the Lead QA Engineer, you will ensure the quality and performance of 8020REI’s platforms and tools. You will be the sole QA resource at the company, responsible for implementing automated testing processes from scratch, leveraging automation tools, and working closely with the development and design teams to deliver reliable and high-performing products.

👨‍💻 👩‍💻 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

Serve as a QA Leader, influencing product development strategies through a quality-first approach.

Communicate and champion QA standards and practices across interdisciplinary teams, leveraging leadership and management skills.

Act as the primary QA resource, independently ensuring the reliability of all software releases.

Excellent leadership and management skills to guide process adoption and drive team alignment.

Flexibility to transition from an individual contributor to a team leader role as the department grows.

Technical Oversight:

Set up and maintain the entire QA process from scratch, ensuring robust test coverage.

Build and refine QA methodologies, tools, and processes from scratch, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

Implement automated testing frameworks using Java.

Develop and execute test cases, scripts, and plans to ensure the quality and performance of our software products.

Take ownership of the QA pipeline with a strong focus on attention to detail.

Project Management:

Collaborate closely with developers to understand and validate feature requirements.

Report testing results and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.

📝 Qualifications

Educational Background:

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience is also highly valued.

Experience:

Proven experience as a QA Engineer, ideally with at least 5 years in a similar role.

Experience with both manual and automated testing processes.

Proficiency in E2E, integration, and unit testing.

Experience in both startup and corporate settings to bring a broad range of QA best practices.

Demonstrated ability to establish and scale QA processes independently.

Technical Expertise:

Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and automation tools.

Familiarity with Gherkin expressions and GitHub Actions for Continuous Testing.

Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Ability to work independently and establish QA best practices from the ground up.

Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, remote work environment.

Language Proficiency:

Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
